    Business Hours

    Banks in Belize are open from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 in the afternoon. In some areas of the country especially in rural areas, banking hours may not be as generous as in bigger areas. The banking hours may be shorter in these places. It is best to check out the banking hours via telephone if the bank has a contact information. Most hotels may be able to help you find out the number of the nearest bank.

    Most Belizean businesses are open from Monday to Friday from 8 am to noon and resumes from 1 pm to 5 pm. Some businesses may not have a lunch break. Most goods are sold in these stores and may be closed on some holidays such as Good Friday, Easter Sunday or during Election Day. During Election Day liquor sales are prohibited until 6 pm.

    Drugstores are also available and some may have longer operating hours. Belize Medical is known to be the most-stocked drugstore in the country.

    Electricity

    The power in the country is rated at 110 volts. If you have an electric appliance that needs to more than 110 volts, you may need to ask for a step-up transformer. Most of the electrical outlets in the country can be two or three prong US-style plugs.

    Smoking

    Smoking is generally disallowed in public places and transportation. Some restaurants may designate a smoking area for smokers.
